Inside the NBA reminds me of OG Top Gear. You have 3 chaps and an audience that loves the show and the vibe. They changed it and “made it new and better,” except everything afterwards was worse. I miss the old top gear like everyone else does. Inside the NBA will suffer the same fate if they mess with it.

The Celtics 6 ECF Finals in 8 seasons (16/17 season to 23/24) is proof how successful Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens have been retooling the roster and how much bad luck the Celtics had during this period, not a proof of failure. 16/17 - Isaiah Thomas injured, barely play in ECF (he was 4th in MVP) 17/18 - Lost Hayward and Irving, went to GM7 against Lebron 18/19 - this should their year, but Kyrie happened 19/20 - bubble season, hobbled Kemba Walker in PO. 20/21 - without Kemba and Brown in PO 21/22 - Tatum injured in the Bucks series, still went to finals 22/23 - first year Mazzulla, after the coach needed to be fired bc couldnt keep the dick in the pants. The fact that the only players that were in 16/17 that are in this roster are Brown (barely played in 16/17) and Horford (he left and cameback as a bench player now) is crazy. You named a list of teams that kept together for years to winning multiple titles. Because thats what happens when you win, you stay together. Celtics keep winning even tought they always changing. This season roster is completely different with Jrue and KP instead of Smart and Rob.

Inside the NBA doesn’t work without Ernie. He’s the point guard for that show. The times when the other 3 have had a substitute host it wasn’t the same. Ernie and Chuck are both irreplaceable, I don’t want to watch a version of the show that doesn’t have those two, and frankly they need to just keep all four of them together at this point, it’s too established. Amazon needs to work out a deal where they lease Ernie for the NBA so that he can stay with Turner for everything else (like Kirk Herbstreit), that’s the only way this could work out.

Nah, genuinely don't like how dismissive Billy is with his Inside the NBA take. "You'll see Chuck and Kenny on some other halftime show quit crying save your tears" We don't tune in just for Shaq, we don't tune in just for Ernie, we don't tune in just for Kenny, and we don't tune in just for Chuck. We tune in for the chemistry that ALL FOUR TOGETHER have built these past almost twenty years. And that goes right out the window when fill-ins like Dwade, Draymond, and worse yet Adam Lefkoe 🤢🤮 is brought onto the show. TNT caught lighting in a bottle with those four, and it'll never be replicated if they're broken up to go their separate ways.

Nah, ITNBA without Ernie is garbage. When they get Matt Winer on or something to replace Ernie it simply is not the same, and it’s even worse when they do their Tuesday night B-team crew. I love Chuck, but the chemistry with Ernie takes it to another level. TNT getting rid of a perennially award winning show is borderline sinful. I’m glad Ernie made the HoF with it because he’s one of the best to ever do it, and it simply cannot compare if he’s gone. Edit: Also at least take the cap off that Ultra bottle, damn.

I think Ernie Johnson’s role on Inside The NBA is being undervalued here.
